PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release: September 18, 2026
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank, the state’s central hub for financing infrastructure improvements for municipalities, businesses, and homeowners, today announced that Fitch Ratings has affirmed an AAA credit rating with stable outlook for the Bank’s State Revolving Fund (SRF), which provides low-cost financing for clean and drinking water projects across the state.
“Fitch’s affirmation of our AAA rating validates our strong financial structure, experienced management team and the underlying credit quality of our loan portfolio,” said William Fazioli, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank. “This rating ensures we can continue offering low-cost affordable financing to our local partners, allowing them to stretch their dollars further on critical clean and drinking water infrastructure projects—a capability that is particularly vital in the current high interest rate environment and challenging fiscal landscape.”
“When the Infrastructure Bank secures a AAA rating, the real beneficiaries are Rhode Island’s municipalities, utility ratepayers, and taxpayers,” said Vahid Ownjazayeri, Chairman of the Bank’s Board of Directors. “By maintaining the highest possible credit standards, we lower the cost of borrowing for Rhode Island’s cities and towns, accelerating their ability to take on essential clean water, stormwater, and drinking water projects.”
