Challenge:

Identifying financing to repair and reopen Boombridge Road bridge connecting the towns of Westerly and North Stonington, Connecticut, which sat closed since 2008 due to safety concerns.

Solution:

$14.8 million in financing through Municipal Road and Bridge Revolving Fund to perform reconditioning and resurfacing of approximately 21 miles of roads and the repair of the Boombridge Road Bridge

Results:

The Boombridge Road bridge was reopened in January 2021, reconnecting Westerly and North Stonington, and reducing residents’ commute times between the two communities by 20-30 minutes.
